The Tropikal font came from a curiosity about what the ancient Filipino type would look like in today’s modern landscape. Tropikal is a modern display of an old-fashioned serif typeface inspired by 19th-century Filipino banknotes, newspapers, and package designs.
The peculiar features that make Tropikal stand out are its sharp edges, high contrast between thick and thin strokes, and semi-oblique cross bars (for example, middle of A, H, or e). The font can extend from a retro feel to a more modern and expressive ambiance. You can use letterforms on their own or you can add overlays or shadows to the pictures if you’re feeling a little adventurous. Either way – Keep exploring!
